McCarthy, who portrayed the struggling writer Kevin in the coming-of-age drama from 1985, posted a picture of herself on Instagram with Moore, who portrayed Jules, the party girl and banker.

In the post’s description, he said, “So great to see (for the first time in years and years) my St. Elmo’s Fire costar, the wondrous Demi Moore, and catch up for my Brat Pack documentary,” which included a still from the film.

Joel Schumacher is the director of the movie, which is about a group of pals who are struggling to adjust to adulthood and life after Georgetown University. Along with Andie MacDowell and Mare Winningham, it also stars fellow Brat Pack members Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, and Rob Lowe.

Based on his 2021 novel Brat: An ’80s Story, which recounts his own coming-of-age and his rise to popularity in the 1980s—the decade that saw him star in the hits Pretty in Pink, Mannequin, and Weekend at Bernie’s—McCarthy is slated to make a documentary about the Brat Pack. The documentary will follow McCarthy as he gets back in touch with his St. Elmo’s Fire costars and other Brat Pack members.

McCarthy recently said of the documentary, “After that book I wrote, it occurred to me, I’ve never talked to any of the old gang about it,” in Salon. “I hadn’t seen Emilio Estevez or Rob Lowe in thirty or thirty-five years. It had been a very long time since I had seen Demi Moore and Ally Sheedy. I approached each of them and said, “Hey, could we have a conversation about this?” because we belonged to a club that no one else did and didn’t ask to join. Only we have firsthand knowledge of what it was like.”

He went on, “It was a life changer for me.” “It’s taken me decades to accept it and recognize its beauty. Like the other actors, I am the avatar of the youth of a certain generation. However, at first, the Brat Pack was viewed by many of us as a career albatross, and we detested it. After talking to everyone again, I realized that, although not feeling particularly attached to them at the time, I had a lot of affection for them all. We were fearful, insecure, and young and competitive.”

McCarthy said, “I think that was a lovely surprise to all of us, not just for our youth but also for our affection for one other.” That was a pleasant experience, but it was not particularly healing. This is all about the Andrew McCarthy and Demi Moore Reunion.
