Fox and IMDb have made a big commitment to the “Baywatch” revival. Fox is boosting up its lifeguard drama game with a hefty screenplay and a penalty commitment to Baywatch, the classic beach series reboot. The most recent iteration is being co-produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle.

Deadline revealed exclusively in April of last year that Fremantle was working on a remake of Baywatch. The latter, a Fox Entertainment and Warner Bros.

TV co-production was later renewed for the 2023–2024 season; however, due to strikes-related delays, its current release date is set for the fall of 2024.

The new, “action-packed” Baywatch revival is written by Lara Olsen, who will also serve as showrunner. It boasts flawless beaches, daring ocean rescues, the iconic red bathing suit, and an entirely new generation of Baywatch lifeguards juggling complicated, hectic personal lives. Olsen co-executives with Baywatch founders Doug Schwartz, Greg Bonann, and Michael Berk.
